Merry Meet and Welcome to you All.
As you already knew, suicide is a major problem among teenagers around the world. By perhaps you have not heard the terrifying statistics and reports done about such a tragity. So basically, I feel that it is my duty to share some information with you, because this problem is very real - and has claimed the lifes of millions.
In the year 1996, a survey was completed by 11,000 high school students. This survey was completed four years ago, and since then the numbers continue to rise, however the results of this survey are shocking - and many have no idea about what a real problem suicide is...
Students were asked to answer questions about the previous 12 months, note that this included one year beforehand - not their entire life. The results of this test were amazing...
24.1% of all the students had seriously thought about killing themselves.
17.7% of all the students had made plans about killing themselves (date included)
8.7% of all the students attempted suicide.
2.8% of the students attempted suicide which required emergency medical care.
And the most shocking information that this survey that was released was that every year, suicide takes more lifes them homocides do - which is a very large number.
So what can you do about it? Well, to be honest, you can do many things. There are many groups working out in the world in hopes of getting other people to talk about the pain they are going through, rather then building it up inside them. Many groups work one on one with people that are having problems in life whether it be with friends, or death. So is it not our job to reach out to these people that are begging for help? I personally think that we should do everything in our power to do so - and that is why I have provided you with this information.
Sure - Why not help? Well saying you can help is the first step, and very important at that, but actually helping is far more important. So how about trying to work with others that may be going through some of these issues? You can even do so online!
Some of you may know what my job online is, and some of you may not, but basically I am offering you an online job now (not for me - but for the people). Equal People Organization believes in, and fully supports Equality among all people, no matter what their race, faith, origin, and so on. Equal People actively supports this idea, and by doing so we come across many different type of people - many which ask for adivce, help and need some assistance. Therefore Equal People has a group of volunteers working around the clock to help other people. This group has also setup the "Advice Line", an open forum where people can seek other people. However Equal People is always in need of more volunteers, because of the fact that the people that come across the site are growing at a rapid pace. So I do ask that you at least look into the group and tell me what you think about it...any comments and questions are welcomed. (I am saying this because I am the Founder and WebMaster). This past month Equal People was choosen to be honored on the "National Wall of Tolerance" which is currently being built, and this seems to have attracted quite a number of people, so we are in desperate need of new volunteers. We offer live, online training with someone who is certified to teach such classes, as well as informative information and a chance for you to save lifes. So please visit this site (www.EqualPeople.org) and if you have any questions email: Founder@EqualPeople.org, and I will get back with you ASAP!
You CAN make a difference!
Another group to check out (if you would like something other then Equal People) would be Yellow Ribbon and the Movement Against Teen Suicide. You can visit this site by going to: http://www.YellowRibbon.org.
Thanks for your time! Now go out and do something about it...
MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
